The open mesh enables the cable grip to be positioned at will on the rope/cable etc. Its main function is generally one of protection (protect cables against rubbing).
The reinforced mesh provides higher breaking strength than the standard models and a better mechanical property against wear (abrasion, high contact pressure…).
